ERWIN WURM – DEEP

BIBLIOTECA NAZIONALE MARCIANA, VENICE, ITALY, 2024

Parallel to the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, Erwin Wurm returns to the magnificent Salone Sansoviniano of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana on St Mark’s Square in Venice to present his works once again, following the resounding success of his 2022 exhibition Avatars.

In a solo exhibition entitled DEEP, Wurm’s sculptural works are set in an exciting dialogue with wall and ceiling paintings by Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese and other Renaissance masters.

The exhibition is organised by the Association for Art in Public and supported by Berengo Studio. It is part of the exhibition project At Home Abroad, a series of solo exhibitions by important contemporary artists at the Salone Sansoviniano, including Bernar Venet and JiřiGeorg Dokoupil, who, in line with the motto of the 60th Biennale Arte Foreigners Everywhere, are artistically exploring the themes of being a foreigner in various ways. The art project was initiated and realised by chief curator Dirk Geuer in collaboration with the Ministero della Cultura.
