During the Libori Festival 2022, the exhibition ‘#PeaceBell – musician, peace activist, painter’ transformed Paderborn’s Gaukirche into a place of reflection. Organised by theBonifatiuswerk der deutschen Katholiken and under the project management of Düsseldorf-based artstar Verlag, the show featured Michael Patrick Kelly’s peace bell cast from war scrapas well as photographs of the casting process, paintings by the artist and other exhibits.
An accompanying catalogue by the Bonifatiuswerk focused on the creation of the bell. In it, Monsignor Georg Austen recalled the admonition in the inscription ‘You shall not kill’ and emphasised that violence is never a solution – ‘not yesterday, not today and not in the future’.
The proceeds from the exhibition went to orphans who had fled from Ukraine and toPaderMahlZeit, a ‘guesthouse’ for the needy. The catalogue is still available from theBonifatiuswerk.
