When the doors of the KulturGießerei Saarburg opened on 7 May 2021, Michael Patrick Kelly’s peace bell took centre stage in an impressive exhibition: Visitors immersed themselvesin the story of the creation of the #PeaceBell, which was cast from war scrap, accompanied byselected graphics by the artist that delved deeper into his exploration of identity and reconciliation. Despite advance bookings due to the pandemic, the former industrial hallsquickly filled up with curious voices and the faint echo of the bell video that permeated theroom. Until 31 July, the exhibition offered an atmospheric place to pause and reflect, whereart and history merged into a joint plea for peace.
