In parallel with the 18th Biennale Architettura 2023, the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana is showcasing works by Austria-based artist Rita Sabo in its historic Sale Monumentali, accessible via the Museo Correr on St. Mark’s Square in Venice.
The solo exhibition Sacred Planet places Sabo’s artworks in direct dialogue with the iconic wall and ceiling paintings of Titian, Tintoretto, and Veronese.
Eleven large-scale canvases will be on view, accompanied by an imposing sculpture that embodies the Sacred Planet itself.
Thematically and formally, the works orbit the idea of sustainability — centering Earth as a sacred, inviolable sphere.
Sabo’s kaleidoscopic and vividly pigmented works offer a compelling artistic appeal: to restore reverence for our shared planet and to resist its ongoing exploitation and degradation.
