In 2022, the ALBERTINA paid tribute for the first time to the internationally renowned work of Tony Cragg — born in Liverpool in 1949 and living in Wuppertal and Berlin — with a selection of key sculptures and drawings from the past two decades.
Cragg’s sculptural practice reveals a progression from figurative to increasingly abstract forms. His use of unconventional materials results in a diverse and dynamic spatial presence of his works. In his drawings, often conceived in series, the artist explores both representational and abstract motifs.
The exhibition was on view at the ALBERTINA from July 7 to November 6, 2022.
